What to Expect at Sydney Chiropractic & Laser Centre

You’ll feel comfortable and relaxed in our welcoming, home-like environment. We pride ourselves on having a practice that gives our patients a positive atmosphere in which to begin healing, and a team who always strives to put you at ease. In order for you to know exactly what to expect on your visits we’ve provided some information on what each appointment with us involves.

The First Visit

This appointment takes approximately 40 minutes, plus extra time if you choose to fill out your paperwork when you arrive. Otherwise, it can be found here and completed before your appointment. Our staff will greet you and you’ll watch a short video.

Next you will have a consultation with Dr. David. He will review your intake forms and talk with you about your health concerns. Dr. David will ask you questions about your current work and daily activities to help determine the cause of your current health issues.

Examination

Your thorough examination will include several different checks to determine your body’s condition, including:

  • Postural analysis
  • Range of motion testing
  • Strength and reflex testing
  • Sensory testing
  • Spinal palpation

Depending on your condition, you may also have a thermal scan and a surface Electromyogram (EMG) scan performed from our Insight Millennium Subluxation Station. If possible, we”ll go over the results and you will have your first treatment on this visit. Otherwise, we”ll have you schedule to return for a follow-up appointment. It all depends on your unique case and situation.

The Second Visit

Dr. David will give you a full report of his findings from your examination. He’ll point out the areas that need to be addressed.  He will go over posture, physical activity, stretching, and the use of ice and heat. Together, you’ll set health goals and a time frame in which to see improvement. You’ll know exactly what to expect and he’ll fully explain your options for care before beginning. You’ll have your first session today if we weren’t able to start on the previous visit.

Regular Visits

For your follow-up appointments, we keep things simple. Dr. David will talk to you about health and ask you how you are moving and functioning. He will answer any of your questions. Then you’ll have your treatment, and you’re done!
