Meet Dr. David Dunn
“Chiropractic is all I’ve ever known.“
A Third-Generation Chiropractor
Chiropractic has been a long-standing tradition in Dr. David Dunn’s family. His father, Dr. Francis X. Dunn, and grandfather, Dr. Charles Cyr, were both chiropractors. Dr. David was just four years old when his father graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. David’s father had been in law school before that, and the extensive hours spent studying, along with a diving accident at the age of 18, left him with chronic headaches and back pain.
His family physician recommended neck surgery but, while at the hospital, Dr. David’s father met his mother, Lea, who worked as a nurse. They started seeing each other, and his dad became a patient of Lea’s father, who was a chiropractor.
Health Care that Truly Helps
His dad’s neck and back pain went away and he never ended up needing that surgery. He quit law school and went to chiropractic college. “Growing up in a chiropractic family, I spent a lot of time in the office witnessing first-hand how much my father helped his patients and how happy he was doing it. I knew it would be the profession for me.”
After finishing his biology degree at Dalhousie University, Dr. David attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. “I graduated in 1992 with a doctorate of chiropractic and began working at my father’s practice in 1993. The challenging course load at chiropractic school made for long days, but it was an extensive education that I’m thankful to have.”
Excellent Patient Care
Dr. Dunn has always focused on excellence when it comes to both standards of care and patient service. He regularly attends professional seminars and workshops to bring the latest information and technology to the clinic. He practices a number of different, gentle chiropractic techniques and tailors the care to each patient individually using both instrument and “hands on” techniques.
Family Time
Dr. David and his wife Voula have two school-aged children, Ariadne and Demetri. Voula is of Greek descent and they like to travel to Greece regularly to see their extended family. Dr. David enjoys art and is an oil painter who loves to paint landscapes and architecture. He’s a supporter of our local Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. Additionally, Dr. David was named Chiropractor of the Year for the province of Nova Scotia for 2001. He also served on the Board of Governors for the Canadian Chiropractic Association representing Nova Scotia, and was the First Vice President
